School Programs

Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, YMCA Camp Santa Maria is the perfect setting for experiential outdoor education, teambuilding, and leadership training in the spring and fall.  YMCA Camp Santa Maria provides comfortable lodging, healthy and delicious meals, and a friendly staff that makes sure your experience meets your school’s needs and goals.  We are available to meet with you ahead of time to discuss a schedule, provide detailed information about program options, discuss measures we take to ensure a safe experience, and to answer any questions.

Outdoor Education

In traditional outdoor education programs, students have “class” in the outdoors.  At YMCA Camp Santa Maria, students actually become part of the lesson.  Through role-play, outstanding natural resources, and excellent instructors, YMCA Camp Santa Maria gives students an intellectual, social and emotional learning experience.  Programs at  Camp Santa Maria are made up of a creative curriculum in which students will;

  • study the natural environment to gain a greater sense of the earth
  • live and work together, building and sharing a sense of community
  • achieve a greater sense of wonder about the highly interconnected and interdependent world in which they live

Team Building and Leadership Retreats

At Camp Santa Maria we facilitate teambuilding and leadership retreats with a focus on strengthening relationships, working together to find solutions, and developing positive communication skills.

    Retreats can be designed to build friendships at the start of the school year, create a sense of leadership for students in their school, help new students feel welcome, help students from different schools to collaborate, or end the school year focusing on students’ goals for the future.

    Financial assistance may be available for students who participate in free, or reduced cost, lunch programs.  Please contact us for more information.
