WHAT:

Rock climbing and being at a camp in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado are a perfect combination. Here at Camp Santa Maria, we have our own top rope climbing site at camp. We also may make trips off site to climb in other local areas. The Mini-Campers, and Pathfinders get a chance to climb as part of their experience at camp. The Adventurers get more exposure to climbing as part of their trip and adventure based program. The Trekkers can choose Rock Climbing as one of their Skill Tracks during their two weeks. And the Teen Adventure Camp has a Rock Climbing sessions.

Campers who take rock climbing will of course climb, and they will also get to learn how to belay-keep each other safe while climbing, and in the Trekker’s climbing Skill Track campers will learn more advanced climbing techniques. All climbers wear helmets and learn proper rock climbing techniques as developed by the American Mountain Guides Association.

WHEN:

During Skill Tracks, and various times during a camp session.
